Okasmetsad oosidel

In Estonia, this habitat type includes the dry boreo-nemoral forests growing on the tops and slopes of eskers, moraine hills, and drumlins. The vegetation of the dry boreo-nemoral forests is similar to that of fresh boreo-nemoral forests on the one hand (that is caused by nutrient-rich soil) and to the alvar forests on the other hand (on the sunny slopes and tops, the soil may completely dry out in some places in the summer). In the tree layer, pine dominates on top of the landforms, whereas on the slopes, some spruces and deciduous trees are added. In early spring, plants characteristic of fresh boreo-nemoral forests (liverwort (Hepatica), spring pea, etc.) dominate, while later on, there are more species typical of alvars (cowslip, snowdrop anemone, dropwort, rock rose, etc.). There are also some orchids.

Dry boreo-nemoral forests are widespread primarily in Central and Southern Estonia, in the Pandivere Uplands.

Includes the habitat type group 115 (dry boreo-nemoral forests) according to Paal.
